Spin introduces its collection of Tea Light Holders that are all hand-made with Eggshell Porcelain.
Eggshell Porcelain is characterized by an excessively thin and translucent body. They are thin and fragile and require plenty of skill to produce. Eggshell Porcelain was introduced in the Ming Dynasty in China around 1400AD and the skills of making such porcelain had been passed down from generations to generations. Such skills are closely guarded secrets and there are not a lot of porcelain masters around who are experts in eggshell porcelain production.
The manufacture of eggshell porcelain takes incredible skills and patience since the thinness is arrived only by manually trimming down the material until it is just 2 millimeters. After which, the most difficult part is firing the porcelain in the kiln at a temperature of 1,350 degrees Celsius which can crack the porcelain easily. Eggshell Porcelain Masters have spent a lifetime studying the skill and some have easily 4 decades worth of experience before being able to produce them.
Spin has been fortunate to be able to partner with such masters to produce a whole collection of Eggshell Porcelain Tea Light Holders. The Eggshell Porcelain is perfect as a Tea Light Holder. It is extremely thin and translucent, allowing the candlelight to create a warm and luminous glow that cannot be replicated with other materials. There are no other Tea Light Holders quite like ours and each and every piece is a work of art itself.
